We would like to thank our good friend, Michael, for all the time and effort spent in compiling the ingredient list below. Thank you!
Saccharomyces lysate extract • derivative of yeast that helps turn over and renew skin cells by increasing metabolic activity • Contributes to healing and skin repair. • Excellent humectant • Contains beta-glucan, an anti-oxidant, and so forms excellent protection against ultraviolet light and other elements that cause stress to skin.
Sodium hyaluronate • contains hyaluronic acid, a sugar found in the connective tissue of the skin reducing swelling, improves softness and provides volume to
fill in large folds of skin.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural polymer formed by repetitions of disaccharides. These disaccharides are composed by D-glucuronic acid and D-acetylglucosamine
bound by glycosidic bounds, alternated between β (1-3) and β (1-4). The single unit is (C14H20NNaO11)n with 200<n<700 and the molar mass of the
disaccharide unit is 401,3g. It is a chain of approximatively 25 000 disaccharides with a total length of 25μm.
Hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, or 300 kDa Hyaluronic Acid, is controlled so that the mean molecular weight range is 100 to 300 kDa, which corresponds to
200 to 700 repetitive units (intrinsic viscosimetry measurement is processed according to the European Pharmacopeia).
Hyaluronic acid plays a decisive role in many physiological mechanisms and influences various cell processes. Contrary to native HAs, whose functions are
related to their physico-chemical properties, the fragments of HA are above all signalling molecules that induce a biological response depending on their
molecular weight.
When the skin is damaged, the signalling pathways are activated. Keratinocytes secrete soluble factors with antibacterial properties: β-defensins, including β-
defensins 2 (BD2).
300 kDa Hyaluronic Acid has a molecular weight (between 100 and 300 kDa) that allows it to penetrate the stratum corneum, to activate innate immune defences and to control the repair of skin tissue.
300 kDa Hyaluronic Acid has two proven actions:
300 kDa Hyaluronic Acid activates the keratinocyte receptors Toll-like 2 and Toll-like 4 (TLR2 and TLR4), which respond by producing beta-defensins 2.
This activity has been proven by in vitro and ex vivo studies.
2. 300 kDa Hyaluronic Acid helps the controlled repair of skin tissue through the migration of fibroblasts (NCTC). It also accelerates the skin repair process
via the proliferation of keratinocytes (HaCat). These activities have been proven by in vitro tests.
300 kDa Hyaluronic Acid is, therefore, an essential signaling molecule, which can be used to elicit the skin’s natural defences and the regeneration of skin tissue.
Mechanism of action
Butchersbroom • from the leaves of a European shrub, increases circulation and helps treat varicose veins and blood clots.
Alteromonas ferment extract, derived from the scarlet annelid, is a mild astringent that contributes to the formation of new collagen.
Zinc• antioxidant nutrient necessary for healing and development of new cells. The mineral acts as a cofactor to many enzymatic reactions such as DNA and
RNA polymerases in protein synthesiss. Zinc maintains the body’s alkaline balance and helps in normal tissue function. Deficiencies may result in prolonged
wound healing, stretch marks, white spots on the nails and susceptibility to infections. “Zinc fingers” have been identified as a critical component of many
hydrophobic hormones where it helps to stabilize the biomembrane structures and cell membrane metabolism. Recently, in cosmetics, there has been
tremendous interest in the skin cell’s natural antioxidant defense systems. Zinc also plays an important structural role in superoxide dismutase, an essential
cellular antioxidant, which is part of the cell’s natural defense system.
Manganese sulfate, is a major component in the enzymatic reactions of carbohydrates, proteins and energy metabolism and in the maintenance of function
and structural integrity of tissues.
Calcium, regulates the passage of nutrients in and out of cell walls. Calcium functions as an important cation in intracellular and extracellular fluids as well as
cell messaging.
Copper, another trace mineral, is key to the absorption and utilization of iron because of its role as a cofactor in several oxidative enzymes (ex. superoxide
dismutase). Copper works with vitamin C to form elastin in the skin. Copper is important in the formation of disulfide cross linkages in keratinization, promoting
hair growth. Copper mineral is important in the production of the enzyme tyrosinase, which is essential for the production of melanin by activation of the
melanocytes. This aids in and helps maintain skin health. Deficiency leads to weakness and skin sores.
Ceramides 1, 3 and 6-II, promoting the enhancement of the skin’s lipid delivery and exchange system, while the skin’s defensive shield is restored.
Calendula officinalis oil, an extract from the marigold flower, reduces inflammation and aids in the healing of minor surface wounds and bruises.
Centipeda cunninghamii extract, which comes from the Australian daisy-like plant called sneezeweed or scent weed, is a soothing medicinal herb that heals
burns, wounds, and skin infections by contributing to cell regeneration. It increases the growth of skin cells, thereby diminishing inflammation and irritation.
It also reduces microbes that can lead to infection.
Hydrolyzed glycosaminoglycans (MDI), which are a fundamental element of complex proteins in skin tissue, inhibit the enzymes that cause collagen to
deteriorate. They also strengthen blood vessels, reducing spider veins, dark circles, and inflammation.
Niacinamide, or vitamin B3, increases micro-circulation and stimulates the growth of skin cells. It also helps increase elasticity by improving the skin’s ability
to retain water, and it alleviates skin stress, reducing redness and other skin discolorations. It also may have an inhibiting effect on skin tumors.
Seaweed aka Algae is a natural anti-inflammatory that contains essential vitamins and minerals that improve circulation and cell counts to help thicken the skin.
It increases skin elasticity and tones the skin while providing moisture and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It also acts as a barrier against potential skin
irritants, microorganisms, and oxidants that damage and age the skin.
Palmitoyl oligopeptide, Palmitoyl tripeptide 5 (SYN-COL), and Hexapeptide 11 are amino acid Combinations (now peptides) that regulate cell activity
and interact with cell receptors to activate genes involved in the process of rebuilding collagen and proliferating new cells. The rejuvenation process conditions
and softens the skin, reducing the density, depth, and volume of wrinkles, increasing elasticity, and providing a “lifting effect” that makes the skin look toned and
youthful.
Dex-panthenol, or vitamin B-5, is effective in hydration and wound healing because it increases cell respiration and metabolic processes behaving in a similar
manor like co enzyme A (a major building block in our body) and provides essential nutrition to the skin for repair and scavenges harmful free radicals induced
by radiation.
Carnitine hydroxy citrate, an amino acid and protein found naturally in body muscle, oxidates and reduces fatty acids that can contribute to aging.
Hexapeptide-11, is comprised of Phenylalanine (Phe), Valine (Val) Alanine (Ala and Proline (Pro) amino acids in the specific amino acid sequence of
Phe-Val-Ala-Pro-Phe-Pro. It has been observed that this peptide brightens complexion, reduces fine lines but seems to be most effective in helping with firming.
Perfluorodecalin, is a physical carrier of gases, notably Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide and is used to solve cosmetic problems such as Carbon Dioxide cleansing
or Oxygen enrichment.
Matrixyl 3000 -Palmitoyl Oligopeptide - Palmitoyl Tetra-peptide-7 acts in synergy to restore and maintain skin's youthful appearance. These messenger
peptides restructure and repair. They also activate the neosynthesis of extracellular matrix macromecules providing visible anti-wrinkle efficacy and help regulate
cell activities. The Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide -7 and Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, interact with specific receptors to activate certain genes involved in the process of
extracellular matrix renewal and cell proliferation. As we age, these mechanisms become progressively weaker, therefore peptides such as these is of great
value.
Squalane, which has a natural attraction to the skin and is one of the main components in sebum ensuring a healthy skin environment.
Sorbitol/Yeast Extract creates healing and decreases discomfort in severely damaged skin.
Saccharide Isomerate effectively hydrates skin and removes wrinkles by binding water in the skin. This element assists also in protecting the skin from
environmental drying agents.
Vitamin B-Complex/Yeast Extract stabilizes and, reduces blemishes, discoloration and erythemas while eliminating skin irritation and degeneration of cell
tissues.
Camellia sinesis leaf extract, Green Tea, reduces irritation and inflammation. A powerful anti-oxidant, it is also 20 times more powerful than vitamin E.
Studies show that green tea protects the skin from environmental damage and inhibits the production of skin cancer cells. It also helps stabilize other ingredients
in our formula.
Bisabolol, derived from chamomile, reduces irritation, inflammation, and ulcerated skin conditions.
Arctium majus root extract, or burdock, is made from the roots, seeds, and leaves of the cocklebur, lapp, or Beggar’s Buttons plant. It is rich in minerals
and inulin, a natural skin conditioner that literally acts as a toxin to bacteria and other stresses that age the skin. It can be used to treat the skin trauma resulting
from surgery as well.
Ascorbyl palmitate, a derivative of vitamin C, is an excellent antioxidant. It is stable, oil-soluble form of vitamin C that is better able to penetrate into the lipid
layers of the skin and slowly make its way to rebuilding stronger cells and stimulating collagen.
Perfluorodecalin is a skin conditioner that leaves the skin smooth and provides the tissue with an increased partial pressure of stable oxygen.
Foeniculum vulgare, an extract from the fennel plant, is considered ten times more potent than vitamin E and more powerful than vitamin C in scavenging free
radicals.
Bellis perennis The extract obtained from Bellis perennis flowers consists of bioactive molecules such as saponins (triterpene glycosides), polyphenols
(phenolic acid), flavonoid glycosides, polysaccharides and inulin. The presence of these ingredients suggests that this active produces a variety of effects which
are also used in phytomedicine, among them antifungal, antimicrobial, antioxidative, anticancerogenic and neuroprotective effects.
Surprisingly, Bellis perennis flower standardized extract was found to produce a strong inhibitory effect on melanogenesis. The fraction of polyphenols contained
in this product is known to inhibit tyrosinase. Results of a comparative study conducted with Bellis perennis flower standardized extract and arbutin, used at
equivalent polyphenol concentrations, showed that Bellis perennis flower standardized extract was about twice as active as arbutin. It was concluded that the
skin-lightening effect produced by Bellis perennis flower standardized extract was based on further inhibitory mechanisms.
